UK Sectoral Imports by Mode of Supply and Related Market Access Opportunities

The experimental data on the UK’s imports of services in 2019 provides further insights into the potential market access opportunities that are likely to be available to foreign services providers who may be seeking to enter that market. The data suggests that, outside of Mode 3 – commercial establishment in the UK, for which no data was tabulated, electronic commerce or digital trade represented the main means by which services were imported by UK consumers in 2019. This was followed by Mode 2 – consumption abroad and Mode 4 – temporary entry of natural persons, in a similar order to what obtained for exports.
