UNLOCKING EXPORT POTENTIAL:

EMPOWERING CARIBBEAN BUSINESSES

Building Capacity to Support the Green Transition in Renewable Energy highlighted the need for a greater focus on the practical application of tools—a recommendation the Agency is committed to integrating into future sessions. Recognizing the importance of expanding into new markets, Caribbean Export continued its Africa engagement efforts in 2024. The agency signed a landmark MOU with Afreximbank to strengthen trade and investment ties, reinforcing its commitment to unlocking opportunities between the Caribbean and Africa. It also hosted two webinars in collaboration with Afreximbank—one on facilitating trade and investment and the other on the MANSA Digital Initiative—attracting over 238 participants. The importance of e-commerce and logistics for expanding exports goes without saying particularly in this era of global trade. Following the signing of an MOU, Caribbean Export partnered with DHL to deliver two training sessions from DHL’s GoTrade programme: Welcome to eCommerce and The Art of Logistics. These sessions attracted over 126 participants from across CARIFORUM, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate global trade networks effectively. The sessions focused on building expertise in online commerce, supply chain management, and logistical strategies, empowering firms to leverage e-commerce platforms for market growth. This partnership underscores Caribbean Export’s commitment to integrating private-sector expertise into its capacity-building efforts, ensuring businesses are prepared to compete on a global scale. Caribbean Export launched a capacity building series “Enhancing MSME Competitiveness with Green Business Practices” to empower businesses to adopt sustainable practices and improve overall operational efficiency. Workshops held in Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Saint Kitts and Nevis in late 2024 attracted a total of 59 participants across the three locations. The Agency will continue to roll-out this programme into 2025 in close support and collaboration with its partners. Participants gained valuable insights into renewable energy resources, energy conservation tools, energy efficiency, circular production and other green technologies tailored to their specific contexts. Practical exercises enabled businesses to assess energy consumption and identify ways to reduce costs, aligning with global sustainability standards. This intervention supports the region’s shift toward a green economy while fostering a more competitive and resilient private sector.
