UNLOCKING EXPORT POTENTIAL:
EMPOWERING CARIBBEAN BUSINESSES
Absolutely Caribbean: Building Global Recognition for Brand Caribbean Unlocking the full potential of “Brand Caribbean” on the international stage requires strategic export promotion efforts. Caribbean Export has been at the forefront of championing this cause, particularly through its Absolutely Caribbean initiative, which highlights the uniqueness and quality of regional food and beverage products. Europe has emerged as a prime market for Caribbean goods, driven by growing consumer demand for bold and diverse flavours. During the COVID-19 pandemic, European consumers shifted toward home dining, creating a surge in demand for international cuisines. In Spain, for instance, the "foods from other countries" category grew by an astounding 105.9% since 2012, with Caribbean flavours increasing by 55% in volume. Germany, a leader in European herb and spice imports, accounts for 20.2% of total EU imports of these products, presenting a key opportunity for Caribbean exporters. This growth is fuelled not only by the presence of diasporic communities but also by a broader interest in sustainably and ethically sourced products—areas where the Caribbean excels. Recognizing the tremendous potential of the European market, Caribbean Export has strategically positioned regional producers under the Absolutely Caribbean brand. This initiative serves as a platform to connect CARIFORUM exporters with international buyers, build brand recognition, and ensure that the story of Caribbean products resonates across global markets.
