The main exports in 2020 to the UK by the top three , were Food and Live Animals, Fuels, and Chemicals . A closer look at the exporters of the three, shows that Trinidad mainly accounted for Fuels, with all three contributing to Food exports, but with the Dominican Republic dominating while Belize was in second place. The main food items at the two-digit level were Vegetables and Fruit, and Sugar from the Dominican Republic and Belize.

4.2 CF Exports by Tariff Line

The CF region exports a diverse mix of products to the UK. Analysis of regional export data at the HS 2-digit level shows that of the 99 tariff headings surveyed, CF’s average exports over the PoA could be classified under at least one of these headings within the tariff universe. It is notable, however, that in some years there were no exports in respect of certain tariff lines, which can be seen in the difference between the average and total exports over the PoA. Notably, for those product lines with more consistent flows, the average tends to approximate to the total flows.11

11 The data is based on import values, which is a more reliable estimate than import volumes given known measurement issues. However, the value of imports can be affected by many factors, including exchange rate fluctuations as well as fluctuations in world prices, which is only indicative of the consistency of trade flows.
