Coffee Trader’s Clifton Mount estate is also Rainforest Certified, which has secured a deal with Nespresso for inclusion of JBM in their premium pods for sale globally. Country Traders is investing in processing equipment to refine its green bean offering in the market, and Mavis Bank is planning celebrations for its one hundredth anniversary in March 2023. Other smaller producers are also participating and innovating in different ways with the EU market in mind. Sherwood Forest Estate, for example, which is a vertical investment from the Danish distributor Oubu Coffee, is planning to plant the Geisha varietal, for climate resiliency, quality and taste alongside blockchain traceability for both local efficiencies and management, as well as a digital footprint to offer to roasters and end customers. There are some excellent individuals and groups representing women (JAWIC) and smallholder farmer groups (JCGA), who are interested in increasing technical assistance, quality in production and processing, albeit currently in very small quantities. The many challenges facing Jamaica farmers may also offer opportunities to unlock more value and interest in the sector moving forwards. Increasing yields, quality, value-add and participation fromwomen and youth in the supply chain will be important. These are covered in detail in section 7.
