FROM POTENTIAL TO PERFORMANCE:

DRIVING EXPORTS THROUGH TARGETED PROGRAMMES

Launched on 24 June 2025, convening 50 stakeholders from across the entrepreneurship ecosystem to introduce GRIT’s objectives and planned interventions.

Building Capacity of Women Entrepreneurs In Saint Lucia , the project formally launched on 24 June 2025, convening 50 stakeholders from across the entrepreneurship ecosystem to introduce GRIT’s objectives and planned interventions. The momentum carried directly into delivery the following day, with GRIT’s first capacity-building session engaging 29 participants. Delivered with support from Export Saint Lucia and DHL, the workshop ‘Exporting with Confidence to Canada: Logistics and Trade’, provided hands-on guidance on export logistics, trade processes, and what it takes to access the Canadian market. In Dominica (5–7 November 2025), GRIT combined enterprise outreach with skills-building and visibility. Activities included a Green Transition Workshop for 17 women entrepreneurs and green business audits for four women-led firms, generating practical insights and firm-specific recommendations. GRIT also hosted its official launch and an entrepreneurs’ expo in the Kalinago Territory (Barana Aute) (30 participants) under the patronage of H.E. Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, alongside consultations that engaged 39 women entrepreneurs across the Territory and Roseau. This was complemented by an ‘Exporting to Canada: Opportunities and Pathways for Caribbean Women Entrepreneurs’ workshop that reached 24 participants reinforcing the programme’s focus on translating readiness into real export pathways. In Belize (10–14 November 2025), Caribbean Export worked alongside BELTRAIDE to deliver an Export Readiness programme anchored in Canada-focused market preparation, supported by a national launch and networking engagement with stakeholders and development partners. The team also prioritised listening and on-the-ground validation conducting structured consultations with 20 women entrepreneurs in Belize City and completing 10 enterprise visits that engaged a further 32 women entrepreneurs across indigenous and rural enterprises in Stann Creek and Toledo helping ensure that GRIT’s support reflects the realities and potential of women-led businesses outside capital centres. Early learning results underscored the value of pairing targeted training with practical follow-up. In Dominica, green transition learning gains were measurable, with assessment scores improving from 2.20 (pre) to 3.34 (post). Meanwhile, the Canada-focused workshops produced significant increases in participants’ understanding of the Canadian market, rising from 2.75 to 4.25 in Belize and from 2.61 to 4.33 in Dominica, helping convert strong interest into clearer, more informed engagement with export opportunities.
