DIGITAL HORIZONS:
UNLOCKING INNOVATION, INCLUSION AND COMPETITIVENESS
At the centre of this journey is the Digital Check-up, an online assessment that looks at how a business uses technology across six key areas: digital technologies, communications and sales channels, organisation and people, data and analytics, strategy and digital transformation, and processes. The tool generates a personalised digital maturity profile and practical recommendations, helping firms prioritise the steps that will have the greatest impact. Since the programme’s launch, over 740 businesses from across the Caribbean have completed the Check-up, up from 105 reported in the 2024 Annual Results Report, providing a growing evidence base on MSME digital readiness and needs. A defining achievement in 2025 has been the finalisation of the CDTI e-learning platform, which transforms these diagnostics into concrete learning opportunities. The platform offers a suite of self-paced courses and resources organised around six dimensions assessed by the Check-up, enabling businesses to: • Build or strengthen their basic digital foundations (e.g. using productivity tools, establishing an online presence); • Improve digital marketing and sales, including social media, customer engagement and e-commerce readiness; • Develop people and organisational capabilities to lead and manage digital change; • Use data more intelligently to understand customers, monitor performance and support decision-making; • Integrate digital priorities into business strategy and planning; and • Streamline and partially automate processes to save time and reduce errors. MSMEs can use their Digital Check-up results to identify gaps, then follow a recommended learning path on the platform, progressing from foundational to more advanced content as their capabilities grow. By linking diagnostics, capacity-building, and ongoing learning in one integrated experience, Caribbean Export through the CDTI, is helping Caribbean businesses move from awareness to action, and from experimentation to sustained digital competitiveness.
