RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT ELEUTHERA ENERGY

Eleuthera Energy was identified by Caribbean Export as a high-potential renewable energy initiative and taken through the Agency’s structured investment-packaging process ahead of CIF 2023. Working closely with Caribbean Export and technical partner Invest Caribbean, project owner Eco Energy Bahamas Ltd. refined the business model, financial structure and risk profile into a bankable, investor-ready proposition for presentation in the Investment Village. Originally conceived as a hybrid solution combining solar photovoltaic (PV), battery storage and a liquefied natural gas (LNG) component, the project was stress-tested through coaching sessions and direct feedback from investors and development finance institutions during CIF 2023. Based on this input, Eco Energy pivoted to a fully green configuration, positioning Eleuthera Energy as a 100% renewable solution focused on solar PV and battery storage to replace fossil based generation in The Bahamas. Following this refinement, Eco Energy successfully won a competitive government tender to deliver a 25 MW facility under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for New Providence, The Bahamas, securing a US$40 million government contract with ground-breaking anticipated in 2025. Building on the visibility and investor interest generated through CIF, the company is now: • Exploring replication of the model in underserved markets in Africa; • Diversifying its portfolio to include green reverse-osmosis desalination for off grid water solutions; and • Adjusting its investment structure to enable participation from multiple investors across different geographies, responding to strong demand catalysed at and beyond CIF.
