Source: UNCTAD The average DI for CF in 2020 is estimated at 0.75, compared to 0.33 for the UK, indicating that there is less divergence from the world trade structure for the UK than for CF, on average, signaling a lower degree of export diversification across CF States. This is consistent with the finding of CF exports being highly concentrated at both the world level and bilaterally, relative to the UK. An examination of the data as at 2020 as compared to the 2008 levels, indicates that the structure of CF trade seemed to have been shifting away from the world trade structure - that is, becoming less diversified. It is beyond the scope of this paper to drill down into the causes of this, but it provides an important insight and suggests an examination of structural constraints, rather than focusing only on negotiating greater market access under various Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs). Complementary policies and support need to also accompany these arrangements. Figure 8 shows the change for each CF country. Overall, each country has exhibited a lower level of
