Over the period 2008 to 2017, the CARIFORUM region exported US$249.7 billion or almost a quarter of a trillion dollars worth of services globally, across all four Modes of supply. A total of 83% of that figure represented cross-border trade in services, with Mode 2 – consumption abroad representing the largest overall share with 45.3%. This was followed by Mode 1 - electronic commerce/digital services exports, representing approximately 36% of the total.

However, the total exports of services via Commercial Establishment (Mode 3) in consumer markets and the temporary movement of services providers (Mode 4) into those markets together only accounted for less than one-fifth (18.8%) of the total amount of services that were traded by the region globally. The picture grows starker when one accounts for the average share of exports across individual CARIFORUM States that takes place via these two modes of supply, which is just over 7% or far less than one-tenth.
