Therefore, based on the assessment of the UK’s global services imports by Mode of Supply, relative to the EU, it is possible to conclude that the UK is a relatively more attractive and competitive destination than the EU for Mode 3 investment in the supply of services, having outperformed the majority of its EU counterparts in that regard. At the same time, while not performing exceptionally well in relation to its export of services via electronic commerce (Mode 1), when compared to the EU, the UK did in fact perform sufficiently close to the regional average in relation to its imports of services via that Mode, thus creating potentially valuable opportunities for foreign service providers to service that market remotely. The data further suggests, overall, that the UK is also likely to be both a key source market as well as host nation for commercial establishment of foreign services affiliates and should be closely examined in relation to its potential to play a dual role in that regard.
