SUPPORTING BUSINESS WITH GRANT FUNDING

Access to finance remains as a major constraint for small businesses hindering their capacity to develop and grow. With small businesses accounting for as much as 95% of the region’s private sector their ability to access finance becomes imperative if the private sector is the backbone of Caribbean countries economic growth and transformation. Caribbean Export has been ensuring small businesses across the region have equitable access to finance via grant funding. Since the start of the 11th EDF RPSDP in 2017, Caribbean Export in cooperation with the European Union has implemented six (6) grant programmes and awarded 328 businesses with a total value of US$8,377,924.64 to businesses across all fifteen CARIFORUM countries. During 2022, the Agency monitored and concluded three grant awards: the Technical Assistance Programme (TAP) part funded by the CDB, the Direct Support Grants Scheme (DSGP) and the Dominican Republic MSME Grant Programme (DRGS). A total of US$2,704,361.19 was dispersed to 138 small businesses across all 15 CARIFORUM States. 157 Grants Awarded 138 88% Grants Dispersed Implementation Rate
