(2) ALES Convention 2019, 2021 The Latin America Association of Services Exporters (ALES) is an international organisation that focuses on promoting Latin America as a services hub. In collaboration with the Caribbean Network of Service Coalitions (CNSC), the programme has supported Caribbean service providers to participate at the ALES conference in 2019 and 2021. In September 2019, fourteen (14) firms to the ALES VIII Annual Convention, which was held in Lima, Peru under the theme “How to Develop High Value added Service Exports” ALES presented an opportunity for CARIFORUM firms to engage with the Latin American services sector; learn about the latest trends in the markets; identify business and investment opportunities in the sector; and network with the leaders at the regional and international level. The main objective of the ALES conference was to help CARIFORUM states develop high value-added service exports. However, there were other underlying objectives namely: to develop and strengthen CARIFORUM’s service providers; and foster, network, and strengthen the relationship between Caribbean Export and ALES, and with other strategic partners in Latin America. In November 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Agency supported the hosting of a virtual conference comprising of 3 segments: ALES Talks, ALES Virtual Showcase and ALES Business to Business Meetings. The ALES talks comprised a weekly webinar series focusing on topics related to the Latin America and Caribbean Services sector. Notably, the Caribbean emphasized the Orange Economy as a catalyst for fostering creativity, innovation, and exports. The virtual showcase and B2B meetings attracted 35 regional service providers who presented their offerings through virtual booths. These providers engaged with 48 international buyers across four sectors: business and professional services, green technology, animation and gaming, and ICT services. Following these engagements, Canadian firm Strategy Up (https://www.mystrategyup.com/) is collaborating with Jamaican company Etalon Global Solution (https://www.egscareers.com/) to develop a joint project: the Caribbean Business Game Simulation (https://www.mystrategyup.com/caribbean-business-game-simulation/). This initiative aims to foster collaborative business development within the region.
